Liverpool comfortably edge past FC Porto to reach semi-finals in the Champions League.

Liverpool FC secured their second consecutive appearance in the Champions League semi-finals with a 4-1 (6-1 on aggregate) win over FC Porto at the Estadio do Dragao.

The Dragons showed to be the brighter and superior team throughout the first 25 minutes with a total of 13 shots with four of those on goal but to Liverpool’s fortune, none were executed well enough. At this point, the Reds were still to approach Iker Casillas’ goal.

It was in the 26th minute that Jurgen Klopp’s side registered their first shot on goal after Mane put the visitors in front from close-range followed by Salah’s pass at the far post.

Salah then doubled the lead in the 65th minute, during a counter-attack when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s found the forward alone enabling him to sweep past Iker Casillas.

Shortly after, Porto’s efforts paid off when Eder Militao scored a consolation goal, followed by a corner taken by Alex Telles.

However, Roberto Firmino put the Reds back into a two-goal advantage in the 77th minute, with a header from Jordan Henderson’s cross.

Centre-back, Virgil van Djik also got himself on the scoresheet making it four for Klopp’s team in the 84th minute, his header went straight to the back of the net after a corner by James Milner flicked off Mane.

Liverpool now encounter a much more challenging task in the semi-finals against Barcelona, with the first-tie being played away at the Nou Camp on May, 1. While the second-tie is at Anfield, a week later.
